Through various interviews, my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.books.com.tw\/products\/0011029207\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">three published stock market books<\/a>, six years of blogging, exchanges with readers, conversations with friends and family, and my own observations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Its_Not_Mainstream_in_Taiwan\"><\/span>It&#8217;s Not Mainstream in Taiwan<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether it&#8217;s individual investors, media, financial experts or scholars, opinion leaders, institutional investors, online celebrities, social media, stock market books, or financial magazines, almost no one focuses on long-term investing or advocates for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Listed_Companies_do_so_too\"><\/span>Listed Companies do so too<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Even more regrettably, most listed companies on the Taiwanese stock market share this view. Because the type of investors determines the type of listed company, people have forgotten the importance of &#8220;sustainability&#8221; in business operations and investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Stocks_Are_Only_Good_for_the_Long_Term\"><\/span>Stocks Are Only Good for the Long Term<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I personally believe this is a very serious matter\u2014because stocks are only good for long-term investment. Without long-term investment, discussing stock market investment is actually quite meaningless. Many people may know this principle, but few Taiwanese investors are willing to act accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Take_long-term_investors_fools\"><\/span>Take long-term investors fools<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Especially noteworthy is that most investors, particularly retail and young investors, generally consider themselves clever and equate long-term investors with fools or idiots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Behavior_is_based_on_short-term_thinking\"><\/span>Behavior is based on short-term thinking<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This results in all investment topics, ideas, considerations, and actions being based on short-term operations. Let me emphasize again, it&#8217;s &#8220;everything&#8221; related to investment that reflects short-term thinking\u2014and short-term thinking inevitably makes it impossible to make big money in the stock market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_wrong_repeated_becomes_right\"><\/span>A wrong repeated becomes right<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The ultimate rule of stock market investing is clearly long-term investing: buy good stocks, hold them for long haul, do nothing, and wait for the stocks to make money for you\u2014a principle every investor understands.
