Let&#8217;s examine the actual performance of Taiwan&#8217;s largest company and the world&#8217;s largest semiconductor foundry, a company often seen as a model of excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Frequently_violating_Labor_Standards_Act\"><\/span>Frequently violating Labor Standards Act<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Data_released_by_labor_activist_and_media\"><\/span>Data released by labor activist and media<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/udn.com\/news\/story\/7269\/9392382\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Dignity of Labor Law Amendment Alliance, a local Taiwanese organization, released its list of the top ten companies violating the Labor Standards Act in 2025<\/a>. TSMC ranks seventh, the only electronics or non-traditional industry company on the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tw.stock.yahoo.com\/news\/%E6%99%82%E5%8A%9B%E5%85%AC%E5%B8%8310%E5%A4%A7-%E8%99%90%E5%8B%9E-%E9%81%95%E6%B3%95%E4%BC%81%E6%A5%AD-%E5%8F%B0%E7%A9%8D%E9%9B%BB%E6%8E%92%E7%AC%AC4-073000414.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New Power Party&#8217;s Legislative Yuan caucus released its list of the top ten companies violating the Labor Standards Act and Occupational Safety and Health Act in 2023<\/a>, showing a lack of respect for workers&#8217; rights. TSMC ranks fourth, the only electronics or non-traditional industry company on the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tw.news.yahoo.com\/%E8%AD%B7%E5%9C%8B%E7%A5%9E%E5%B1%B1%E9%81%AD%E7%BD%B02-%E5%83%854%E5%B9%B4%E8%A2%AB%E5%8B%9E%E5%8B%95%E9%83%A8%E6%8A%937%E6%AC%A1-%E5%8F%B0%E7%A9%8D%E9%9B%BB%E9%81%95%E6%B3%95%E5%8E%9F%E5%9B%A0%E9%83%BD%E8%B7%9F-%E9%80%99%E5%80%8B-%E6%9C%89%E9%97%9C-010000695.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TSMC internally uses &#8220;unwritten rules&#8221; to evade labor inspections. According to the Ministry of Labor&#8217;s website<\/a>, TSMC has seven records of violating the Labor Standards Act from 2017 to 2021, all related to working hours and overtime pay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Data_from_Taiwan_government\"><\/span>Data from Taiwan government<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Ministry of Labor&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/announcement.mol.gov.tw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Labor Law Violation Inquiry System for Businesses (Employers)<\/a>,&#8221; data from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2025, spanning nearly 11 years, shows a total of 35 violation records. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"TSMC_scorns_labor_laws\"><\/span>TSMC scorns labor laws<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Which_laws_have_TSMC_violated\"><\/span>Which laws have TSMC violated?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The numbers speak for themselves: TSMC is indeed a frequent name on the list of companies that have long violated various government regulations\u2014most of which are related to occupational safety, working hours, leave, and overtime pay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_authorities_indifference_and_leniency\"><\/span>The authorities&#8217; indifference and leniency<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The key issue is that TSMC repeatedly commits the same violations, clearly disregarding the law and acting with impunity. TSMC has long and bad tracking record of violating Labor Law, making it the only electronics and ICT company among the top ten violators. This raises serious questions: Do Taiwanese authorities dare not offend TSMC, allowing it to repeatedly break the law?
