Chinese Robotics is dominating the global robotics industry
SemiAnalysis released a report in March, issuing a very serious warning about American robotics technology, bluntly stating that Chines Robotics dominates the robotics industry and has a huge advantage. SemiAnalysis pointed out that the world is in the early stages of a nonlinear transformation of industrial society. Automation and robotics are currently undergoing a revolution, but the only country capable of mastering this automation revolution is “currently China.” If China is the first to achieve this goal and the United States and other Western countries fail to follow suit, they will face competitive elimination in all areas and even face survival threats.
According to a research report released by Morgan Stanley in March 2025, “Humanoid Robots 100: Mapping the Humanoid Robot Value Chain”, among the 100 core listed companies in the global humanoid robot industry chain, the United States and mainland China are equal in number, accounting for about 70% of the total. From the perspective of sub-sectors, Europe and the United States dominate the “brain” of robots, while China focuses on the “body” of robots.
Humanoid Robot
Market Overview
According to the “Humanoid Robot Industry Research Report” released at the 2024 First China Humanoid Robot Industry Conference and the forecast of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the Mainland, the humanoid robot market size in the Mainland will be approximately RMB 2.76 billion in 2024, and the industry scale will exceed RMB 20 billion in 2026, mainly benefiting from government guidance and investment drive. It is expected to grow into a RMB 100 billion market in 2030 and is expected to reach RMB 300 billion (approximately NT$1.3 trillion) in 2035.
Unitree Robotics
Unitree Robotics was founded by Wang Xingxing in 2016. Unitree Technology from Hangzhou became an overnight sensation after it demonstrated a humanoid robot that could dance the yangge on CCTV’s Spring Festival Gala. Yushu Technology’s H1 and G1 humanoid robots were subsequently sold online in mainland China, attracting market attention.
Unitree Robotics’s core competitiveness is “low cost and high performance”. The price of its H1 robot is as high as RMB 650,000, but the price of its G1 robot is only RMB 99,000, which is more price-competitive than the American Tesla humanoid robot Optimus. When Tesla CEO Elon Musk launched Optimus last year, he revealed that the American humanoid robot would cost between $20,000 and $30,000. Industry experts pointed out that “China’s pricing strategy for humanoid robots may accelerate the adoption of humanoid robots in various industries in China.”
UBTtech Robotics
UBTECH Robotics (UBTtech) is also one of the leading manufacturers of humanoid robots in mainland China. Its products cover education, entertainment, commercial and other fields. It will launch a family companion robot in 2024.
It is worth noting that the first phase of practical training of UBTECH’s industrial humanoid robot Walker S1 at the BYD Auto Factory earlier this year has achieved initial results, with efficiency doubling and stability improving by 30%. UBTECH’s humanoid robots have received intention orders for more than 500 units from car manufacturers and are in a critical period of industrialization.
The humanoid robot Walker S1 also started “working” for two months at Foxconn’s factory in Longhua, Shenzhen, earlier this year. It not only verified the feasibility of humanoid robots in logistics scenarios, but in the next second phase, UBTECH’s humanoid robots will enter Foxconn’s Zhengzhou car factory in Henan to “work”.
LeJu Robot
LeJu Robot, headquartered in Suzhou, currently owns the first humanoid robot production line in Jiangsu Province. Leju delivered its 100th full-size humanoid robot to BAIC Off-Road in January this year.
At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in 2025, China Mobile, Huawei, and Leju jointly released the world’s first humanoid robot equipped with 5G-A technology. Based on 5G-A technology, humanoid robots can achieve high-precision positioning in large scenes without the need for additional equipment. This can enhance the reliability of multi-machine collaboration and expand the scope of application in industrial scenes.
ZQ Electronics
ZQ Electronics from Shenzhen is a veteran robot player. On the streets of Shenzhen, a video of the ZQ robot PM01 wearing a police uniform and accompanying police officers on patrol went viral on the Internet, becoming a new top star. In February this year, another humanoid robot product of Zhongqing Robotics, SE01, announced that it had completed the world’s first humanoid robot front flip stunt, becoming another superstar of the “Robot Circus”.
Deep Robotics
In 2017, DEEP Robotics was officially established. Yunshenchu Technology At the 2024 World Robot Conference, Yunshenchu Technology launched its first commercial humanoid robot Dr.01.
Industrial Robots
Rapid progress
Mainland China’s industrial robots have made significant technological progress. Whether in terms of precision, stability or intelligence, many products have the ability to compete with international brands and have gone overseas to grab overseas markets. Exports have increased from RMB 1.98 billion in 2017 to RMB 8.06 billion in 2024, surpassing Germany for the first time to become the world’s second largest exporter.
Estun Automation
Founded in 1993, Estun Automation is headquartered in Nanjing, Jiangsu. It initially engaged in the sales of machine tool CNC systems and began to develop industrial robots in 2010. Its core products include multi-joint and collaborative industrial robots, which are widely used in automobile manufacturing, 3C electronics and other fields.
Estun was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2015 and has ranked first in shipments of domestic industrial robots in mainland China for seven consecutive years. In 2024, its shipments exceeded 30,000 units, forming an “all-star lineup.” In 2022, it was awarded the title of “Little Giant” of national-level specialization and innovation in mainland China. It independently developed key core components, such as developing a domestic alternative to the focused welding line with an accuracy of 0.05 mm, which is used by leading companies such as Tesla and BYD.
Inovance Technology
Founded in 2003, Inovance Technology focuses on the field of industrial automation and is one of the “Seven Swordsmen” of Guangdong Robotics. Chairman Zhu Xingming once joined Huawei. Inovance started with vector inverters, devices used for speed regulation of motors, which are widely used in the industrial field. One of the application scenarios is elevators. It then entered the research and development of industrial robot products such as automatic control systems, providing core components such as industrial robot controllers, motors and drive actuator modules, promoting the intelligent upgrade of the manufacturing industry, breaking the foreign monopoly in the servo system field, and the cost is only 30% of imported products.
Siasun Robot
Siasun Robot & Automation is a robotics company incubated by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Founded in 2000, its products cover industries such as automobiles and semiconductors. It is the largest robotics industrialization base in mainland China, focusing on the research and development and production of industrial robots, logistics and warehousing automation equipment.
Closing words
Tesla CEO Elon Musk admitted in his first earnings call in April 2025 that despite Tesla’s “Optimus” robot leading the way, China may eventually dominate the industry. He said: “I am a little worried that the companies from second to tenth may all be from China.”
