Founder
GoDaddy (ticker: GDDY) was founded in 1997 by Bob Parsons in Phoenix, Arizona. Parsons decided to retire after selling his financial software services company Parsons Technology to Intuit in the mid-1990s.
In 1997, he founded Jomax Technologies, which later became GoDaddy.

Acquisitions
- In July 2012, GoDaddy announced the acquisition of Outright, but did not disclose the amount.
- In August 2013, GoDaddy announced the acquisition of Locu for $70 million.
- In September 2013, GoDaddy purchased the domain name trading platform Afternic from NameMedia. GoDaddy also acquired domain parking service company SmartName and domain search service company NameFind.
- On October 15, 2013, GoDaddy acquired MediaTemple, a domain hosting and website services company. MediaTemple said in a client newsletter that the company “will continue to operate as an independent and autonomous entity.”
- In July 2014, GoDaddy acquired Canary, a small business based in Cambridge, UK, that provides smart calendar services.
- On August 20, 2014, GoDaddy acquired MadMimi, an email marketing service provider headquartered in Brooklyn, USA.
- In April 2015, GoDaddy acquired Elto, a San Francisco-based startup that provides a marketplace platform that allows business owners and non-technical people to contact web developers to help them build web pages and improve their online presence. Rate.”
- In April and November 2015, GoDaddy purchased a large number of domain names from Marchex and WorldwideMedia respectively.
- In December 2020, GoDaddy acquired Poynt, a company headquartered in Palo Alto, California, USA, which mainly provides payment processing services, including contactless in-store terminals and online and telephone payment acceptance technologies.

GoDaddy reported revenue of $1.15 billion, up 7.3% year over year. The figure was in line with analysts’ expectations. Overall, it was a strong quarter as its EBITDA far exceeded analysts’ expectations and its order intake also beat analysts’ expectations by a wide margin.
Since the report, the stock has risen 26.1%.
