About the Author
Who is Janet Lowe?
Author of “Warren Buffett Speaks” Janet Lowe is a deceased American writer who, as far as I know, published ten books. I have read four of these books. The main scope of these ten books is in the two major areas of business celebrities and investment. She is particularly good at business and celebrities, and has published the world’s first Biography of Charlie Munger.
Her books I have read
The following are the four books by Janet Lowe that I have read, as well as my personal experience, for your reference:
- “Warren Buffett Speaks”, published in English in 2007: the subject of this post.
- “Damn Right! Behind the Scenes with Berkshire Hathaway Billionaire Charlie Munger” published in English in 2000: There are two translation versions in Chinese. This should be the world’s first book about Charlie Munger. Janet Lowe has made a detailed description of the information collection, interviews with relevant people, and Munger’s own words and deeds, and his life. I am happy to recommend this book to those who like Charlie Munger.
- “Benjamin Graham on Value Investing“, published in English in 1996: This is the first book I read about “value investing”, and it was through this book that I got to know “value investing” and Graham.
- “The Triumph of Value Investing“, published in English in 2010: This is the only book I have read that I personally think is weaker than Rowe’s.
Basically, I’m positive on Janet Lowe’s works. At least the four books I have read above are all well written. If you are interested in value investing, I think it’s worth your time to read it.
About this book
Chinese version of the book title
Because of its age, the book is very well written. As far as I know, there are four Chinese translated versions of “Warren Buffett Speaks”.
Reason to recommend
- Buffett’s important quotes will never become outdated as time goes by.
- What is commendable is when Janet Lowe published this book, Buffett had just established himself in the investment world. Before this, Buffett was not as god-like as he is now, and the media’s reports on Buffett were not detailed and there was relatively little information. It’s clear that she spent a lot of time collecting some of Buffett’s early quotes.
- Janet Lowe also interviewed some people related to Buffett, and verified some of Buffett’s quotes, and quoted Buffett’s clarifications when necessary.
- The most important thing is: The quotes from Buffett collected in Rowe’s book have been quoted repeatedly to this day, proving the value of these words.
Contents of the book
In a nutshell, Janet Lowe spent a lot of time collecting some important quotes from Buffett. This is a good book that investors must read carefully. There are several other books on the market that include Buffett’s quotes, but I personally think that “Warren Buffett Speaks” is the best one.
